Fail Safe Controller Maintenance

Course details

This course provides a hands-on introduction to operating a Fail Safe Control System consisting specifically of Fail Safe Controllers, Stand Alone Computers, Universal Stations/Global User Stations and PlantScape Systems. Skills include operating Fail Safe Control functionality from a maintenance engineering point of view.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

At the end of the course participants will be able to operate and maintain a FSC system. The participants will gain basic operating skills, identify hardware components of the FSC System, gain the basic skills  required to diagnose faults and troubleshoot a FSC system from a power-on state to an operational state, utilize tools to facilitate system maintenance and support functions and establish the foundation for further in-depth implementation or maintenance training.

COURSE OUTLINE

• Identify FSC hardware and their functions
• Navigate and manipulate the FSC Navigator Software Package
• Manipulate and operate FSC Units
• Load and operate a functional application
• Troubleshoot the FSC System
• Manipulate Diagnostics
• View diagnostics from FSC, TPS, and PlantScape System
• Operate On Line functionality Parameters (forces, writes, custom screens…etc)
• Operate functional logic diagrams
• Operate UCN status displays for Safety Managers
• Connect Safety Managers to the UCN and to the PlantScape System
• Identify FTA’s

FOR WHOM

FSC Customers:

• New to FSC system implementation
• Responsible for implementing and/or supporting an existing FSC System
• Requiring broad familiarization with much of the FSC system’s capabilities

PPRE-REQUISITES

• Microsoft Windows NT 4.0: User Fundamentals - 71006
• or successful completion of Windows NT pre-test with a minimum score of 80%, available at enrolment.

Desirable Skills and/or Experience

• Familiarization with own plant’s process control environment
