Course details

This workshop, taught by award winning directing and cinematographer Michael Lavelle, is a practical, hands on approach to finding your own voice in cinema. It is suitable for those interested in cinematography as well as directors who are looking to gain a clearer grasp of visual storytelling. It is designed to help you find a doorway into your own unique visual language. You will be guided through the practical use of the camera and ways of getting the most from your camera.

Course Content:

The course consists of a series of hands on workshops followed by specific shooting tasks designed to help you discover your own way of communicating in cinema. The short exercises will be reviewed and broken down in class so that you can chart your understanding and begin to find your own voice.

  • Putting together a lighting plan and lighting a scene
