Course details
The course will enable adult learners to:
- use basic and fundamental mathematical skills to identify, locate, act upon, interpret or communicate a problem
- provide information about mathematical ideas including quantity and number; dimension and shape, pattern and relationship and change;
- represent information about mathematical ideas using objects and pictures, numbers and symbols, diagrams, graphs and tables and text.
Course Outline
- Ratio and proportion in contextual situation
- Solving problems of quadratic equations, linear equations, life-skill formulas and technical formulas
- Exponents and numbers
- Representation of words, symbols, tables, graphs, Cartesian coordinate system, equation of a line and linear and quadratic functions
- Geometry involving properties of polygons, elements of a circle, similarity and congruence of figures, lines and angles, compass directions for spatial orientation, transformation of shapes
- Measurement of speed, time and distance, velocity, rates, temperature, weight, capacity, area and circumference of a circle
- Graphs or visual representations, mean and range, median and mode, statistical information and application
- Probability of chance events, compound events, outcomes of combinations of events
How will I be assessed?
All trainees for Workplace Numeracy (WPN) are required to sit for a Pre-Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) assessment to evaluate their mathematic proficiency levels – beginner, Intermediate or Advance.
After the completion of the training, all trainees are required to sit for a Post-Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) assessment.
Will I recieve a certificate of completion?
