Acquire techniques in problem-solving and decision making, including root cause analysis of problem, generating and evaluating alternative solutions, making appropriate decisions, and taking responsibility for the decisions within own circle of influence.
What will I learn?
On completion of this unit, the participant will be able to perform the following:
- Identify symptom(s) of potential problem(s) at the workplace
- Identify deviations to workplace norms and practices from symptom(s) identified
- Use of appropriate tools and techniques to identify possible root cause(s) of problem(s)
- Identify impact of the problem(s) on one’s job responsibilities and other parties involved
- Use creative and logical thinking to generate and select ideas to solve problem
- Use pertinent criteria to evaluate selected ideas to choose the most desirable solution(s) to the problem(s)
- Develop an action plan to implement the chosen solution(s)
- Use appropriate modes to communicate chosen solution(s) and action plan to relevant parties
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the implemented solution(s) and action plan and initiate corrective actions where necessary
- Identify preventive measure(s) to avoid recurrence of similar problem(s) in the future

Requirements
- Be able to speak, listen, read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills Workforce Skills Qualification (ES WSQ) Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 4
- Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to ES WSQ Workplace Numeracy (WPN) level 4
