    Course details

    The course is intended to provide participants basic skills for conducting environment impact assessment (EIA). The course will provide the participants the knowledge of the principles of EIA, and the steps for conducting an EIA. Case studies will be presented to the participants and an introductory course on the use of rapid impact assessment matrix software to carry out an EIA study. It will be useful for graduates, researchers, mid-level management involved either in undertaking EIA or in EIA evaluation.

    Objectives

    At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

    • Definition, history, timing and rational for conducting EIA
    • Steps involved in developing an EIA
    • Data needs for EIA
    • Introduction to RIAM with case studies
    • Preparation of an EIA Report

    Participants

    Professionals, researchers and mid management staff will be the most suited audience. However, anyone who is currently interested in environmental issues or plans a career in environmental sciences can also participate.
