Energy Management Certificate - Level 1

Course details

The Energy Management Level 1 programme is aimed at technicians, engineers, facilities managers and others who wish to gain an understanding of the fundamentals of energy management. The programme will provide the learner with a general introduction to energy, its generation, distrubution, usage and management and to provide basic technical foundations in engergy management. Learners will focus on conducting audits, creating energy costings and budgets and devising energy awareness programmes.

Aims of the Programme

This programme seeks to build a foundation of knowledge and understanding on the fundamentals of energy management as follows:

• Gain an understanding of the impact of population growth, how this relates to global warming and the use of energy resources as the key fundamentals of energy management.
• Interpreting the forms of energy and grasping important efficiency calculations bringing the participant to the point of recognising the organisational energy environment he operates in.
• The ability to understand energy generating systems such as steam systems, boilers, compressors, etc is critical to the energy management professional.
• Identifying the use of energy measuring equipment gives the participant the knowledge to finally learn how to plan and implement an energy audit and prepare an energy management plan, with confidence for their own organisation.

• This programme is accredited by Engineers Ireland for CPD for their members.

• Module 1: Introduction to Energy Management
• Module 2: Fundamentals of Energy Management
• Module 3: The Energy Environment of the Organsiation
• Module 4: Energy Management Planning

Assessments

• 1 assignment per module must be submitted.

Entry Requirements

• Basic knowledge of maths and chemistry and a background in Facilities Management is desirable but not essential.
