Course details

Objectives:

This Endoscopy Simulation Workshop is primarily an introduction to Endoscopy simulation training. Participants will be shown how to utilise the various modules in the simulators to improve their skills in gastroscopy and colonoscopy. These modules include administration and use of sedation, case scenarios as well as biopsies and polypectomies. The simulators allow for assessment of percentage of mucosa visualization, rate of missed lesions as well as a log of the number of bowel perforations during the course of training.

Participants will be provided with 6 months open access to SGH Surgical Skills Centre, allowing them to continue to practice on the simulators at their leisure. There will be a mid-course review 3 months into the course for participants to feedback to the faculty regarding their experience. Participants, after 6 months, should be confident of the technicalities of endoscopy and be better able to begin their training on patients.

Medical Officers, Residents from General Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Emergency Medicine
