To provide technicians who carry out electrical testing or diagnosis on modern vehicle systems with a working knowledge of the test procedures that allows correct diagnosis of system/circuit faults.
Course Content:
- The electrical values
- Electrical measurement
- Identification of typical circuit symbols and use of wiring diagrams
- Test methods for circuit Continuity, Insulation and Resistance
- Electrical properties and the testing of series and parallel circuits
- Battery and Energy systems operation, testing and diagnosis
- Test methods for circuits using voltage drop measurement
Learning Outcomes:
- Refer to a typical system wiring diagram, identify the electrical components and the current paths connecting them to the control unit(s) of the system
- Understand the important electrical test procedures for the electrical systems on a typical vehicle
- Carry out correct test procedures using voltage, resistance current and voltage drop measurements to determine circuit condition and identify faults which may be present in vehicle system circuits.
Course Requirements:
Trainees should be qualified motor mechanics/automotive technicians
