    The course is delivered in house in our dedicated training unit and is delivered using HSE Guidelines (Recognising & Responding to Elder Abuse in Care Settings) and is in line with Section 2 – Standard 8 ‘The Protection Standard’ of the ‘National Quality Standards for Residential Care Settings for Older People in Ireland,’ as published by HIQA.

    The training programme is designed to:

    • Increase knowledge and understanding of what elder abuse is
    • Help staff identify care practices that might lead to or contribute to elder abuse
    • Help staff recognise elder abuse
    • Explain the actions that need to be taken if it is suspected that elder abuse is taking place
    • Recognise discrimination.

    All supervisors or managers who work in direct care services.
