Course details

This course is suitable for individuals wishing to become a teacher/trainer of IT in an education and/or industry. It is also suitable for qualified teachers who wish to teach IT in an educational institution. The course is also aimed at those who intend to teach, train or instruct others and who want to gain prior knowledge and understanding of educational principles. It is suitable for candidates who are in a role as a teacher, trainer, instructor or facilitator within an educational or commercial environment and want to achieve a qualification which confirms their understanding of teaching and learning principles and practice

Syllabus:

EDI Level 4 Certificate in Teaching ICT Skills

The purpose of this unit is to enable learners, through a teaching project, to carry out an ICT skills training needs analysis, devise a scheme of work and session plans, deliver an ICT session using a session plan and resources created, evaluate the session and identify and make improvements to the session plan and resources for the future.

This module largely comprises of learner course work. This course work is ongoing and must be submitted to the course tutor on specified dates.

  • Understand how to teach ICT concepts
  • Understand how to manage ICT resources
  • Be able to prepare ICT learning resources for selected software applications
  • IBe able to develop ICT learning activities
  • Teaching Practice

EDI Level 4 in Principles of Teaching and Learning

The Certificate in Principles of Teaching and Learning is suitable for those who intend to teach, train or instruct others and who want to gain prior knowledge and understanding of educational principles.

  • Approach to teaching;
  • Principles of learning process and the learning process;
  • Teaching strategies and methods of teaching;
  • Classroom management;
  • Teaching Practice

If a participant has a teaching qualification recognised by EDI, they will be exempt from the Principles of Teaching and Learning and will be entitled to the EDI Diploma on achieving the Certification in Teaching ICT Skills.

Entry Requirements for the EDI Diploma in Teaching (ICT), formerly JEB:

There are no formal entry requirements; this qualification is open to all learners. It is advisable that learners have a good level of English when undertaking this course.

Candidates are normally expected to be 19 years of age or more at registration and at least 20 years of age at the final assessment date.

Candidates should have prior knowledge to at least ECDL level or higher plus a good working knowledge of the following applications:

  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Internet / Email
  • File Management
  • PowerPoint
