    Course details

    The purpose of this award is to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skills and competence to work as an autonomous practitioner or to take responsibility for the work of others in leading and co-ordinating the provision of a quality early childhood care and education environment.

    Work Experience:

    Students will spend one day a week and four full weeks working in one of the following: Creches or Full day care settings, excellent places to experience practical childcare. The work experience will be linked to many of the modules studied and information will be gathered on work experience which will be used in the completion of a number of assignments.

    Entry Requirements:

    A FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Childcare or any other FETAC Level 5 Award.

    Certification:

    The course is a full-time one-year course which is certified by the Further Education and Training Awards Council at Level 6. The certificate awarded is the Early Childhood Care and Education Award (Level 6).

    Career Progression:

    This course will qualify learners as supervisors in Crèches, Playgroups and Pre-Schools etc. It could also act as an excellent basis for learners who wish to set up their own childcare facility.
