Course details
This course aims to provide participants with the knowledge and skills for basic cardiac life support according to the guidelines established by the National Resuscitation Council (NRC), Singapore.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the rescuer’s role in the chain of survival
- Activate the appropriate emergency response system
- Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for adult and infant victims
- Relief foreign body airway obstruction in a conscious and unconscious adult and infant victim
COURSE STRUCTURE
To complete the e-BCLS course, participants must successfully complete and pass parts a and b.
- Written Assessment: Online test consisting of 30 MCQs (20mins)
- Practical Skills Assessment: Attend practical demonstration and test at Parkway College (150 mins)
COURSE OUTLINE
- Adult one-man CPR
- Relief of foreign body airway obstruction in an adult-conscious and unconscious
- Infant CPR
- Relief of foreign body airway obstruction in an infant-conscious and unconscious
MODE OF DELIVERY (WRITTEN ASSESSMENT ONLINE)
- Course theory is available as an online course
- Online course can be completed anywhere with internet connection
- Online test of 30 MCQs (20mins) can be taken anytime
- A minimum score of 80% is required to pass the test
- Maximum retake of online test is 3 times
- Online test results is valid for 90 days
- Practical test can be scheduled upon passing of written test
MODE OF DELIVERY (PRACTICAL SKILLS ASSESSMENT)
- Course is conducted at Parkway College
- Participants must attend the full practical course and pass the skills assessment test
- Participants who successfully pass all the components will be awarded the BCLS certificate
- Practical course consist of:
- Introduction to BCLS (10 mins)
- Central demonstration (20 mins)
- Practical skills coaching (60 mins)
- Practical skills assessment (60 mins)

CERTIFICATE AWARDED
- BCLS certificate awarded by Parkway College which is valid for 2 years
