Course details

Many people involved in the landscaping industry have good hard landscaping skills, but not an understanding of plant content, requirements and growth patterns. The effects of soil, water table, climate and aspect, in many cases are not taken into consideration. As a result of this and with requests from both Garden Centres and Past Students, we have put together a programme which should cover many of the most essential aspects in this important and interesting area of horticulture.

This course is aimed at stimulating an in-depth appreciation of all aspects of suburban, rural and industrial planting and will encourage the participants to explore numerous possibilities in choosing plant material.

Students will be encouraged to select and source plants for various situations in their own time and then to come back and discuss the selection with the tutors. This should result in a greater variation of plants used in landscaping.

At the end of this course a deeper understanding and an enthusiasm for the use and selection of plants in landscaping will be attained.
