Course details
This intensive one year Diploma covers the following study areas: Principal Instrument, Performance Technology, Band performance and gigs, Musicianship, Performance platforms, Music Business and Songwriting.
You will participate in practical workshops and tutorials with industry experts who are all working musicians, songwriters, music producers and entrepreneurs. This course focuses mainly on the application of practical skills for performance and musicianship. Networking with other musicians is a feature of the course and culminates in the production of events/gigs designed and implemented by the student body.
Study in the course will enhance your performance skills and knowledge about the music industry in readiness for a career in various roles such as performer, songwriter, band leader, recording artist or you may wish to pursue further study.
The Institute hosts special high profile music industry guests on a regular basis. In 2013, music students were treated to the only workshop presented in Australia from the famous jazz guitarist and his band Mike Stern who was out for the Melbourne International Jazz Festival – for more details. In 2014, we have had presentations from alumni and now professional musicians Helen Croome (aka Gossling), Ryan Meeking and Lucas Taranto (bass player for Gotye). Free Online Music Theory MOOC Course (BHMT)
