Course details
The Diploma of Engineering Technology course will prepare you for work as an engineering associate in research and development, production engineering, installation and equipment maintenance and design drafting. This course also overlaps with mechanical engineering associate, drafting and manufacturing technology work.
You can specialise in one of two streams (either Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering).
The Mechanical Engineering stream specialises in:

What employment opportunities will I have?
The Diploma of Engineering Technology could lead to a variety of different roles, depending on the stream you choose. The Mechanical Engineering stream could lead to work as a mechanical draftsman, mechanical designer, production planner, production supervisor or engineering technician.
Possible job outcomes for the Civil Engineering stream include; civil draftsman, laboratory technician, research assistant, construction supervisor or urban planning assistant.

What further study options will I have?
You may wish to continue onto the Advanced Diploma of Engineering Technology. A pathway is also available into the Deakin University Bachelor of Engineering.
