Parkway College Diploma in Nursing Programme is designed to provide students with sound and valuable educational experiences in Nursing that will prepare them to be “Thinking Nurses with Hearts” in various healthcare settings.  This course is also to prepare nursing graduates for registration with the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB), the governing body of nursing practice in Singapore.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this programme, you will gain professional foundation education grounded in behavioural, biological and nursing sciences, and geared you towards developing reflective and knowledgeable doers with empathy and a caring heart. An introduction to leadership, management, patient education and counselling and patient safety helps students appreciate patient engagement in decision making, environmental safety, teamwork, collaboration, and inpidual and team leadership.

This broad-based education programme will further prepare nurses in the area of service orientation, critical thinking, problem-based learning, reflective learning, nursing research and alternative medicine therapies or practices.

Parkway College Diploma in Nursing is an accredited nursing programme by the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB).

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Academic Requirements

Local Students:

GCE “O” Level students with minimum of 5 GCE “O” Level credits

  • English Language (EL1)(Grade 1 to 7)
  • Elementary or Additional Mathematics (Grade 1 to 6)
  • Any science subjects (Grade 1 to 6)
  • 2 other subjects (Grade 1 to 6)

The results must be taken at not more than 2 sittings of the GCE ‘O’ Level Examination.

NITEC Graduates:

Enrolled nurses with GPA of 3.0 or higher.

International Students:

  • Applicants with overseas educational qualifications will be assessed for their suitability by Parkway College’s recruitment staff and approved by Students Affairs and Academic Board. Please refer to the Minimum Academic Qualification Table for information.
  • Applicants must be at least 16 years old before allowed entry to this course.
  • Applicants who do not meet the above requirements may also apply, but will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Health Requirements

All students must pass the medical examination and be free from physical handicap, should be immune to Hepatitis B and C, Varicella and Rubella antigen, and be free from TB, HIV and VDRL.  Students must also be certified fit by medical practitioners in Singapore to pursue the Course.

GRADUATION CRITERIA

The College shall award the Diploma in Nursing certificate when the student has met the following requirements:

  • achieve at least a Grade D for all examined subjects
  • achieve at least Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 and 212 credits at the end of the course;
  • pass the final pre-registration consolidated practice (PRCP)
  • met all financial and administrative obligations to the College; andmet any other requirements specific to the course.
