It requires a strong understanding of business fundamentals that the Diploma in Management Studies provides.
You acquire a well-rounded training in a wide array of crucial management skills and knowledge, including Accountancy, Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Operations Management, Information Technology, Law, Communications and Economics.

Programme Structure
Lectures consist of both international and local students with the average teacher-student ratio of 1:80. This programme is intensive and demanding in its requirements. It is important to note that the programme design expects students to undertake their studies at least five times a week on a full time basis. There are three semesters in the programme. Each semester is six months duration.
Mode of delivery
The course is 100% face-to-face lecture. Course work includes attendance of lectures, discussions of case studies, class tests, presentations, completion of group and inpidual written assignments.
Students need to make use of relevant websites and the internet for research purposes and do a large part of their studies in their own time. Besides attending lectures, students also participate in project lab sessions.
Attendance
Attendance is monitored regularly. Students must achieve an attendance of 75% and above to be eligible for the end-of-semester examinations. The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority of Singapore (ICA) requires all international students issued with a valid student's pass to achieve attendance of 90% and above in any month of the course.

Admission Criteria
At least five GCE 'O' level credit passes (grade 1 to 6);
For Diploma in Accounting and Diploma in Banking and Finance applicants, one of the five GCE 'O' level credit passes (grade 1 to 6) must be Mathematics;
Other qualifications will be assessed based on the equivalence to GCE 'O' level examinations.
Applicants who do not meet the academic requirement might be recommended to undergo a 6-month Management Foundation Studies (MFS) programme. Click here for details of the MFS programme.
For International Applicants (Full-time programme only)
International applicants will be assessed on the qualification’s equivalent to the GCE ‘O’ level examinations.

English Language Requirement
- GCE 'O' level credit pass (grade 1 to 6) in English (as a first language); or
- IELTS with an overall score of at least 5.5; or
- TOEFL score of at least 550 (paper-based) plus 4 in the Test of Written English (TWE) or 79 (iBT); or
- SAT1 score of at least 550 (critical reading and writing); or
- Pearson Test score of at least 49/100; or
- An equivalent English language qualification.
Applicants who do not meet the English language requirement would need to undergo the Certificate in English Language Upper-Intermediate (Level 5) (CEL) programme prior to enrolment in the Diploma programme.
The duration of the CEL programme depends on the applicant’s English language proficiency level.
Applicants can sit for an English Placement Test conducted by SIM to determine their English language proficiency level.
Notes :
- IELTS or TOEFL test scores must be less than two years at point of enrolment.
- The SIM English Placement Test results will be valid for one year from the date of the test.
Assessment and Exams
Each module is assessed through a combination of continuous assessment(s) and end-of-semester examination.
Continuous assessments in the form of case studies, class tests, discussions, presentations, group and inpidual assignments will be made throughout the course.
At the end of each semester, candidates must sit for an examination on all the modules taken during the semester. The semester examinations are held in the day, usually 10am-1pm or 2.15pm-5.15pm.
Continuous assessment is conducted throughout the programme. The end-of-semester main examination is normally held in February/May/August/November. The supplementary examination is normally held in March/June/September/December.
Promotion and graduation
To attain a pass for each module, students must achieve an overall minimum GPA of 1.0 (grade 'D').
To graduate with a Diploma in Management Studies, students must successfully complete and pass all 15 modules. Graduating students will be issued a result transcript and awarded with a diploma certificate from SIM upon graduation.
Job prospects
There are also many employment opportunities in both the private and public sectors for diploma graduates. You can find management-related jobs in financial services, business development, marketing, mass communication, retail and office administration.
