Logistics management connects various functions and organizations together in a supply chain system that includes cross-functional and inter-organizational activities. It is essential to understand the important role of logistics and its integration into the entire business process in a supply chain context. Hence critical thinking and interdisciplinary approaches are needed to understand the management of logistics and supply chain and know to use/apply the knowledge and skills in real-life business challenges.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course focuses on the fundamental concepts and roles of logistics, activities, systems and costs that are critical to the efficient managment of the logistics supply chain management framework. The course will provide equip you with the professional expertise to achieve vast improvements in your operating expenses, working capital and revenue, through targeted improvements throughout your entire value chain. You will acquire knowlege in proven methodologies and approaches that will help your company improve order-to-delivery time and profitability by eliminating waste in production environments and by streamlining and simplifying the entire design-through-delivery process.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
The broad aims of the programme are:
- Acquire the knowledge of various business and/or operation functions necessary to pursue a business career and obtain a tertiary qualification with possible fields of specialisation;
- Develop the critical awareness and understanding of the principal functions of logistics and supply chain management, operations management, international management and financial resources management;
- Integrate theories on managing supply chain operations (stemming from logistics and operations management frameworks) within the context of global business management
- Understand how logistics and supply chain management are interrelated to contemporary social issues;
- Demonstrate business and academic research skills;
- Write business reports and utilise appropriate academic writing skills in English
- Demonstrate effective self-management and organisational management practices at a tactical level within a quality focused context
- Increase their understanding, judgement and problem solving skills
MODE OF DELIVERY
This course is wholly delivered in Singapore. Students will have access to local lecturers and resources provided by Nanyang Institute of Management. There will be a combination of lectures, tutorials, workshops, seminars and presentations. Students may also be given additional work to complete outside of scheduled classes. Resources and materials provided for students will include lecture notes and references for further reading in books, publication, articles and websites.
ENTRY REQUIREMENT
- 16 years old at the time of application
- GCE '0" Level or better
- Completion 11 years of education or equivalent
- Certificate in General English
- Certificate in Business Management or equivalent
- IELTS 5.5 or equivalent
- Students who do not meet the minimum English Language proficiency requirments are required to pass the English Proficiency Test
ASSESSMENT & AWARDS
Assessment for most modules comprise of coursework, tutorials, tests and written examinations. The coursework may include tests, practical assignments, research projects and/or tutorial participation.
Upon passing all 8 modules, a student will be awarded the Nanyang Institute of Management Diploma in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
