Course details
The Diploma in International Business (full-time) programme aims to provide students with a strong business understanding, necessary knowledge, skills, and self-confidence to work in national and international environments that are competitive, complex and transformational. The programme will equip them with the specialised tools in marketing, accounting, finance, and organization management that are necessary to understand the international dimensions of business.
Graduates of the Diploma in International Business may apply for advanced standing to the following undergraduate programmes available in SIM, subject to the respective universities’ prevailing requirements at the point of application

Mode of Delivery
The course is 100% face-to-face lecture. The course work includes attendance at lectures, discussions, case studies, class participations, presentations, completion of inpidual/group written assignments.
Attendance
Attendance is monitored regularly. Students must achieve an overall attendance of 75% and above to be eligible for the end-of-semester examinations. The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority of Singapore (ICA) requires all international students issued with a valid student’s pass to achieve an attendance of 90% and above in any month of the course.
Promotion and Graduation
Each module is assessed through a combination of continuous assessment and end-of-semester examination. To attain a pass for each module, students must achieve an overall minimum GPA of 1.0 (grade ‘D’).
To graduate with a Diploma in International Business, students must successfully complete and pass all 15 modules.
Graduating students will be issued a result transcript and awarded with a diploma certificate from SIM upon graduation.
Candidature
Any student who fails to complete the programme within the maximum allowed period will not be entitled to any recourse or refund.
Minimum Number of Students Required for Class Commencement
For a class to commence, there must be minimum of 25 students. In the event that the class cannot commence due to low take up rate, students will be informed at least one month prior to class commencement.
Admission Criteria
Five GCE 'O' level passes (Grade 1 to 6) including English as a first language;
Other qualifications will be assessed based on the equivalence to GCE ‘O’ level examinations.
Applicants who do not meet the academic requirement might be recommended to undergo a 6-month Management Foundation Studies (MFS) programme.
For International Applicants (Full-time programme only)
International applicants will be assessed on the qualification's equivalent to the GCE 'O' level examinations.

English Language Requirement
- GCE ‘O’ level pass in English (as a first language); or
- IELTS with an overall score of at least 5.5; or
- TOEFL score of at least 550 (paper-based) plus 4 in the Test of Written English (TWE); or
An equivalent English language qualification.
Applicants who do not meet the English language requirement would need to undergo the Certificate in English Language Upper Intermediate (Level 5) (CEL) programme prior to enrolment in the Diploma programme.
The duration of the CEL programme depends on the applicant’s English language proficiency level.
Applicants can sit for an English Placement Test conducted by SIM to determine their English language proficiency level. Click here for details of the CEL programme.
Notes:
- IELTS or TOEFL test scores must be less than two years at point of enrolment.
- The SIM English Placement Test results will be valid for one year from the date of the test.

Average teacher:student ratio is 1:80.
Assessments & Exams
Assessments can take on several forms, such as case studies, presentations, class discussions and participation, inpidual and/or group projects, quizzes, common tests and so on. In addition to continuous assessments, most modules require students to undertake a final exam.
