Course details

Upon completion of the course, the student is expected to:
1. Apply knowledge gained in hospitality services

2. Understand fundamental servie marketing concepts, key areas of customer satisfaction, service quality and customer service skills

3. Understand fundamental concepts of convention/ events sales and services

4. Demonstrate competency skill sets of communication, problem solving, decision making and professional development

5. Explain the functions, processes and information needs of front office operation

6. Understand fundamental concepts of housekeeping management

Class Size
Class size: Maximum 35 for lectures, Maximum 17 per class for practical and tutorial lessons
Certification
Candidates who successfully complete all six (6) subject units of this programme and a project unit will be awarded the Diploma by Beacon International College. This certification allows direct entry into the internationally recognized BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes awarded by Pearson Education (UK).
Entry Requirements
- GCE 'O' level or 'N' level 3 passes

- Grade 10

- SPM 3 passes

- ITE-Nitec

- SMA

- Chinese Junior Secondary Year 3

Students with equivalent foreign qualifications may be admitted provided they are proficient in the English Language, and possess.
1. IELTS 4.5 or equivalent qualifications AND

2. a Pass in English Proficiency Assessment Test determined by the College
Those who fail the English Proficiency Assessment Test will be required to successfully complete the EAP/ESL (Lower Intermediate) course conducted by college.

Lectures/Tutorials
The course is mainly conducted in the classroom via face-to-face learning which encourages student-teacher interaction. Students are encouraged to attend field trips organised by the school to encourage experiential learning.
Assessment
No examination, in-course assessments will be conducted only. In-course assessments may include quizzes, class tests, class participation in question and answer sessions, oral presentation, subject assignments including assignment reports and demonstrations where relevant, valid and appropriate.
