Course details
Early Childhood Education is the study of young children from birth to eight years old - how they develop physically, how they learn successfully or fail, the adoption of appropriate strategies that would assist them to reach their potential, and how they develop holistically. It is best done through an academic and professional ECE program.
Young and developing children require educators who are able to provide appropriate care and education for them. The significance of having qualified and trained ECE educators is now accepted by young parents, policy makers and society at large.
The Diploma of Early Childhood Education (DECE) Program prepares students to become professionally trained edu-carers and academically qualified preschool teachers who will be motivated to pursue the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECE) (Hons) Program.
Three Qualities of DECE
- Enables students to become competent English Language models for young children
- Facilitates the acquisition of knowledge and understanding, skills and strategies, values and attitudes towards teaching that promote appropriate learning experiences leading to overall balanced development of the young child.
- Sustains students' motivation for tertiary education and further professional development
