Business Administration offers a balanced academic and practical approach to fundamental business concepts and applications. It covers the essential subject areas including management, marketing, fi nance, and human resource management.
Learning Outcomes

- Apply specifi c functional management skills to increase the productivity and business effi ciency in their areas of responsibility.
- On completion of the diploma course students will be awarded a Shelton Diploma in Business Administration and can proceed to pursue their Shelton Advanced Diploma in Business Administration programme.

Module Synopses
Financial Accounting
This module is designed to provide students with an understanding of the theoretical framework of accounting and the principles underlying accounting statements, preparation and presentation of financial statements , books of accounts for non-profit organizations, and will enable the students to evaluate the performance and financial position of organizations from the financial statements.
Business Management
This module is designed to provide the students with an understanding of the functions of management, evolution of management theory, organizational environment and concepts of leadership and motivation.
Fundamentals of Marketing
This module aims to investigate the principles that underpin the marketing process and its application in business. It is a broad-based unit providing a general overview of marketing for all students and a foundation for further study in the specialist area of marketing.
Quantitative Techniques in Business
This module is designed to enable students to achieve an overall understanding of how and why statistics and mathematics are used in economic and business decision, and to demonstrate the ability to collect, present, analyze and interpret quantitative data using statistical techniques.
Human Resource Management
This module aims at providing an understanding of the human resource function of management through the consideration of systems and frameworks, which create and sustain the employment relationship within the organisation.
Principles of Economics
This module is designed to provide an understanding of fundamental economic theories, concepts and policies, microeconomic principles and concepts and their effects upon business organizations and markets, and international trade and economic mechanisms.
Information Management
This unit enables students to recognize the need for managers to be able to gather, analyze, record, store and disseminate information as part of the management function. The focus of the unit is not on information systems but on the processes. The unit develops the skills and techniques involved in managing information, and students will learn to manage information to inform decision-making.
Accounting for Management Decision Making
This module will enable the students to learn about managing finance within the business environment, management of working capital in the business, budgetary control and costing techniques, and apply some statistical techniques for the purpose of financial analysis.
Assessments
The 8 modules are assessed by a written examination or written examination and Assignment. Examinations are held for 3 hours duration for a maximum score of 100%. The examinations are held at the end of each module and re-sit examinations are conducted after the assessment and award board meetings which are held 3 times each year.
