Course details
With a Diploma in Biomedical Sciences (DBMS), you will learn how diseases develop and how to treat them at their root, setting you up for a rewarding career in the medical field. The course focuses on diseases of the human body, and, depending on your interests, you can choose to specialise in either Biomedical Research or Medical Laboratory Technology.
You will receive practical training in using powerful diagnostic technology in our state-of-the-art medical facilities, and industry attachments at institutions such as the National University of Singapore and A*STAR research laboratories will give you experience in performing cutting-edge research.
Specialisation Tracks
1. Biomedical Research
- Pursue a multi-disciplinary study of health and diseases
- Learn about the biological and molecular sciences underpinning modern medicine
- Develop an understanding of life processes and the effect of disease changes
2. Medical Laboratory Technology
- Gain a good understanding of biology, chemistry, and state-of-the-art diagnostic technology
- Focus on technologies used to diagnose disease
Course Outcomes
- Develop technical skills and learn how to use cutting-edge technology for a rewarding career in human health.
- Discover the latest in biomedical research to address the health issues of today.
- Gain hands-on experience through work attachments with biomedical scientists at private and public healthcare organisations and research institutes such as the Raffles Medical Group, the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, and the Genome Institute of Singapore.
Career Opportunities
