If you don’t have an accounting degree but you’re keen to improve your skill set and advance your tertiary qualification in this field, then the one-year Diploma for Graduates in Accounting is the programme for you.
The Diploma is also appropriate for those who want to pursue post-graduate studies at a British university but whose first degree may not be readily acceptable in the UK.
With the course content developed and supervised by the prestigious London School of Economics and Political Science, you are assured the same high standards for which LSE is known for.
With this qualification, you can look forward to employment opportunities in banking, business development, corporate investment, marketing and retail, manufacturing and public services.
Delivery mode
At SIM, you will be engaged in a variety of teaching environments. Classes are delivered in a carefully designed mixture of lectures and workshops, enabling you to experience a persity of styles for optimal learning. Study skills and academic support sessions are organised regularly too. Students are expected to have access to computers at home to access materials on the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and on the SIM portal. You will be provided with university materials such as subject guides, past exam papers and exam commentaries, reading lists, handbooks on good study strategies and access to the VLE.
An annual intensive revision period is organised between mid-March and end-April to prepare you for the examinations. These lessons may be held in the evenings or on weekends and public holidays.
Minimum Class Size
For a class to commence, there must be a minimum number of 25 students. In the event that the minimum number is not met after the application period, the class will not commence. Students will be informed within 30 days after the application period.
Course modules
One compulsory full unit
Principles of Accounting
and
Two full units from:
- Financial Management or
- Corporate Finance
- Financial Reporting
- Auditing and Assurance
- Management Accounting
and
One 200 or 300 full unit (or two half units)
chosen from any of the Selection groups, including any of those units not already selected above.
Programme Admission
A full first degree completed in a minimum of 3 years duration on a full-time basis (or equivalent) from a university or an institution acceptable to the University of London,
- GCE ‘O’ level Mathematics - grade C or C6 and above or its equivalent
- GCE ‘O’ level English - grade C or C6 and above or its equivalent
Candidates holding professional and/or postgraduate qualifications without a full first degree cannot be considered for admission to the Graduate Entry Route.
University of London International Programmes graduates from the same range of degrees under the academic direction of LSE cannot be considered for the Graduate Entry Route or for the Diploma for Graduates
Exemptions
There are no exemptions from units.
Students will not be permitted to transfer from the Diploma for Graduates to the related BSc qualifications offered through the UOL International Programmes.
Students may transfer between the different Diplomas for Graduates.
A student who fails a unit twice may transfer to another unit, within the five-year registration period.

Assessment and Exams
The programme is made up of full and half units. Candidates may take four full units and complete them in one sitting at the end of the academic year.
SIM assignments, class tests and preliminary examinations allow students sufficient practice for the University's annual examinations.
The examination marks account for 100% for most papers. The exception is for selected units where the coursework needs to be assessed by the University.
Candidates who fail a module may repeat the module and re-sit the examination the following year. The re-sit unit which is an elective may be replaced by another new unit.
Units which have been passed may not be re-taken. There are a maximum of two attempts for each paper.
There are no pre-requisites for candidates in the Diploma for Graduates.
Attendance requirements
The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority of Singapore requires all International Students issued with valid Student's Pass to achieve attendance of 90% and above in any month of the course.
All other students are strongly encouraged to maintain at least 75% attendance.
Graduation requirements
To complete the Diploma, candidates must attempt all 4 full units.
Graduates who do well in the University examinations may be awarded a Diploma with Distinction or Merit.
Upon graduation, you will become an alumni of the University of London International Programmes and a member of its Alumni Association.
