Course details

Dignity at Work Training Course is designed to ensure that managers and employees have an understanding about why dignity in the workplace is so important and how to deal with inappropriate behavior. It will give participants a better understanding of what should be done to ensure that discrimination, bullying and harassment in the workplace is avoided; that everyone in the workplace is treated in a fair and dignified way. It also looks at the responsibilities of management should something occur.

Course Objectives:

On completion of this course learners will be able to:

• Understand the Employment Equality legislation
• Have knowledge of the Health and Safety legislation
• Look at policies and procedures that are already in place to deal with discrimination, bullying and harassment
• Be able to apply the above procedures in order to maintain dignity in the work environment

Course Programme:

• An introduction to the legislation that is available to ensure the fair treatment of everyone in the workplace.
• Understand what is deemed as inappropriate behavior.
• Explain what dignity at work is and why it is so important.
• Looking at the different policies and procedures that are in place in relation to Dignity at work.
• The role of management in the workplace in dealing with discrimination, bullying and harassment.
• How to deal with formal and informal complaints.
• Understand the processes involved should an issue not be able to be resolved in the workplace.
• Gaining the confidence to deal with inappropriate behavior to ensure that dignity at work is maintained.

Training Methods:

• Classroom based power-point presentation & interactive discussion.
• There will also be course hand-outs, group exercises & roll play.
