What is developmental psychology?

Developmental psychology, also known as human development, is the scientific study of systematic psychological changes that occur in human beings over the course of the life span. Originally concerned with infants and children, the field has expanded to include adolescence and adult development, aging, and the entire life span. This field examines change across a broad range of topics including motor skills and other psycho-physiological processes; cognitive development involving areas such as problem solving, moral understanding, and conceptual understanding; language acquisition; social, personality, and emotional development; and self-concept and identity formation. 

Developmental psychology program

Developmental Psychology program allows you to study psychological processes from a developmental perspective. This program also is design to enable students to develop a better understanding of human development. 

Specialisation

Within our psychology graduate program, you can pursue specialities including, but not limited to the following areas: 

  • cognitive developmental psychology, 
  • social-emotional developmental psychology, 
  • atypical development (e.g., autism, impulse control disorders, juvenile delinquency, speech and social anxiety)

About Universiti Kabangsaan Malaysia

All these developments has brought about greater confidence among its staff to continue upgrading their capabilities while enhancing their talents in a conducive, healthy and supportive environment as provided by the university.
