Course details

This programme provides an entry path for Level 7 (Ordinary Degree) graduates in other numerate disciplines to graduate to entry level careers in computing. It includes a placement in the ICT industry. Level 7 graduates from other disciplines have already developed transferable skills in analysis, communications and independent learning and that such graduates are in a position to quickly learn a focused subset of computing knowledge at Level 7. The aim of this course is to provide this focused subset of knowledge and the requisite skills to apply it in a work environment.

GMIT is the largest provider of Springboard/ ICTSkills courses in the West of Ireland, with 290 approved places across 12 courses in 2015. Of the 70 Springboard / ICT Skills places that were approved for GMIT in 2013, a year later 70 people had completed internship and over 60 people were in paid employment. Similar results are expected for this course, which is being run for the first time this year.

  • Systems & Network Technologies ;- 10 Credits, Level 7.
  • Introduction to Mobile Application Development - 10 Credits, Level 7.
  • Web Application Development - 10 Credits, Level 7.
  • Database Design & Development - 10 Credits, Level 7.
  • Integrated Mobile Application Development - 10 Credits, Level 7.
  • Work Placement - 15 Credits, Level 7.
