We have created many analytical tools that can gather data from myriad of sources inreal time, as the data is being created practically. The tools and database applications arecreating masses of data that is available continuously to organisations. The problem is thatthe old columnar format of reports so long employed by businesses no longer provides theimmediate answers to questions that the businesspeople need in order to make informeddecisions. In fact, in today's world, traditional reports created through analytics usually mustbe re-analysed to gain any real insights.
So with all of this data available, and all the answers to business questions contained within,how do we best present the data so that the insights are obvious? This is the purpose of datavisualisation: format and present the data in a way that the results are clearly visible throughgraphs, charts, maps, dashboards and so forth.
This course describes the basics of how to present data to people, especially management, ina way that it can be understood completely and unambiguously and used to solve problems,answer questions, and make better informed decisions.
