Course details
Since the enactment of the Data Protection Act, 1988, and more particularly in recent years, the legal obligations and requirements on public service organisations to safeguard personal data have grown enormously. Responsibility covers all functions associated with the client’s personal data gathering, storing, accessing, safeguarding and disposing of it in line with the 8 rules of the Data Protection Act.
Who Should Attend
Awareness sessions are suitable for staff at all levels however it is most likely that the course would initially be aimed at middle management staff across all departments who are responsible for ensuring that personal data is processed within their departments in accordance with the requirements of Data Protection Acts 1988 & 2003. Responsibility for Data Protection rests with the business unit supported by I.T. and Information Security. Awareness sessions can also be customised to address the specific needs and requirements of the senior management team, staff with different levels of responsibility or specialist staff.
Purpose
The purpose of this half day workshop is to create an awareness of the importance of Data Protection within the organisation and to increase the level of corporate understanding of the consolidated version of the Act (1988 and 2003) placing particular emphasis on the 8 rules of Data Protection, how to respond to a Data Protection request, the likely requests you may get, difficulties you might encounter etc.
