Price: AED 9,200
  • Location: Dubai
  • Duration: 4 Days
  • Timings: Full Time, Sunday - Wednesday

Course details

Over the 4 day course students will learn how to approach artists, discuss their practice within a studio visit situation, disseminate key information surrounding the artist's work into various media, propose ideas for staging an exhibition and ultimately build an exhibition proposal of a professional standard. Where Curating Contemporary Art Exhibitions - One gets to the heart of understanding a contemporary definition of the term curating through lectures on key historic moments, Part Two delves into practical applications. Part One offers insight into the practice and history of curating through lectures, meeting curators from commercial galleries, museums and public spaces and touches on intellectual processes involved in making an exhibition. Part Two turns this knowledge into a resource for making a self-initiated and practically driven proposal for an exhibition designed and conceived individually by the student. Each student will be expected to propose a project based on their own research and the course will guide students through the process of turning an idea into an industry standard level of exhibition proposal.

Course Outcomes

This course will give students practical experience of meeting artist's in their studio, transforming an initial concept into a fully functioning exhibition proposal and will offer a professional standard of experience at all stages of proposing a self - initiated idea. This will include refining the idea, conceptually positioning key themes into understandable narratives, working on realistic budgets, writing press releases, formatting proposal documents, compiling artist CV's and all necessary stages in completing a working proposal that can be taken forward to professional platforms.
