Course details

In the modern world we are fascinated with criminology and the process of crime scene investigation. The enduring popularity of TV shows such as the CSI Franchise and crime novelists such as John Grisham is testament to this fact. This course will allow persons with an interest in the area of criminal law and crime scene investigation to more fully explore and understand the way in which we think about and, ultimately, administer criminal law.

This course is designed to equip the student with general knowledge and transferable skills while focusing on the broad theme of criminal justice.

On successful completion of the course you will have an understanding of:

  • The nature of criminal behaviour (including: Does the Punishment Always Fit the Crime?)
  • The theory of criminal psychology and sociology
  • Criminal Law including violent crime, burglary and homicide
  • The Court and Judicial Systems
  • Forensic Sciences and Crime Scene Investigations (including: Debunking CSI myths)
