Course details
This course will provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed for assignment of borrower credit risk ratings and loan provisioning in accordance with the principles approved by the Central Bank of Egypt on 24 May 2005.
Course Objectives:
- Describe the main conceptual framework for credit risk ratings and loan provisioning
- Explain the credit risk rating and loan provisioning process
- Explain the credit risk management process
Course Outline:
Module 1: Conceptual Framework
- Comparison of CBE circulars No. 321 and June/05
- Comparison of the CBE circulars with the Basel requirements
- Credit risk department structure and its role in defining the Obligor Risk Rate (ORR)
Module 2: Credit Risk Ratings and Loan Provisioning
- The link between credit risk ratings and loan provisioning and 81:/pricing
- Legal aspects of mortgages and guarantees
- Calculating loan provisions for company borrowers
- The basis for categorization of loans into consumer loans and personal real estate loans
- Case studies to determine ORR for companies
Module 3: Credit Risk Management
- The methodology for determining credit risk ratings and loan provisions for company borrowers
- The methodology for determining credit risk ratings and loan provisions for SMEs
Assessment Strategy:
Participants will be informally assessed on their interaction during sessions and their participation in exercises
