    The Craft PLC (Post Leaving Cert) course at CTI Senior College, offers a broad education in craft and design, in a welcoming environment. Providing a range of diverse craft skills, from traditional to contemporary, we cater for all learners of all ages and craft experience. Centred on the disciplines of drawing and design, the curriculum creates opportunities for learners to realise their individual designs in ceramics, batik, print and paint. Craft suggests skill or technique - doing a job with careful attention to detail and discipline, and reflects the philosophy of this course.

    This course aims to offer a supportive surrounding where people want to learn, be creative, have fun and discover new skills, talents and depths within themselves so they can develop personal and career opportunities. Work experience is a mandatory part of this course, where learners are introduced to the world of professional craft and design practice, in partnership with local and national stakeholders.

    Entry Requirements:

    • Successful performance at interview
    • Leaving Cert (traditional or applied)
    • Other qualification at NFQ Level 4 (e.g. FETAC Level 4 Award)
    • Mature students with appropriate vocational experiences

    Progression:

    There are many craft and design courses available at Level 7 and 8 at the Limerick School of Art and Design, Crawford College of Art and Design, DIT, IADT, NCAD and WIT to where students progress. CTI Senior College also offers both Fine Art and Silversmithing and Jewellery Design at QQI (FETAC) Level 6.

    South Tipperary Vocational Education Committee (VEC) is one of 33 VEC’s established under the Vocational Education Act 1930 – 2001.Their remit as the state provider of education for the County is the provision of a comprehensive range of quality education programmes to meet the needs of the community they serve. 

    These include Second Level Education, Post Leaving Certificate Programmes, Further Education, Second Chance, Adult & Community Education.

    In addition South Tipperary VEC plays a significant role in the Strategic Development of the County through a variety of inter-agency programmes.
