Course details

This course has been specifically created for mature students of all ages who have an interest in computers. It has been designed to offer a whole range of possible outcomes, from simply getting the most out of the family PC to working from the home in a variety of ways to obtaining full employment in computer related jobs.

Work Experience:

Students will spend two weeks working in an area related to their course.

Entry Requirements:

This course is aimed at mature students with an interest in learning about computers, with suitable candidates being selected by interview.

Certification:

There is continuous assessment throughout the year and examinations in the main subjects are taken in May. Successful full-time candidates receive FETAC (Further Education and Training Awards Council) Level 5 Certificates in Information Processing(5M2067).

Career Progression:

Students who achieve the full FETAC Certificate in Information Processing are eligible to obtain employment in a wide range of computer areas. Alternatively they can use their qualifications to proceed to the Advanced Certificate in Business Administration in O'Fiaich Institute or to a range of third level education options. For example, the Higher Education Links Scheme allows students to use their FETAC results to gain access to any course in the Institutes of Technology up to ordinary degree level.
