Course details

The purpose of the Computerized Accounting and Office program is to provide students with the skills necessary to understand and apply the principles of accounting for proprietorships, partnerships and corporations in a computerized office environment.

Brighton College has partnered with the CPA (The Canadian Payroll Association), to deliver the PCP certification (Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certification) courses from the Canadian Payroll Association. The structure of the certification consists of three accounting courses. Once the students pass these three exams, with the certificate application fee paid to CPA, the student becomes eligible for CPA/PCP certification. This 34 week diploma program is instructor-driven, allowing students to navigate quickly through accounting theory and software. The curriculum includes experiential lectures and workshops facilitated by accounting experts with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field. The computerized accounting program also includes a work experience (practicum) at various small and mid-sized firms throughout the Lower Mainland. The successful completion of all 15 accounting courses (including the 4 weeks of practicum) is required for program graduation.
