Communications
The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the relevant knowledge, skill and competence to communicate verbally and non-verbally in standard everyday tasks and in work-related tasks, operating independently while under general direction.
Work Experience
The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the relevant knowledge, skill and competence to participate in the workplace for a limited time, carrying out work-related tasks independently while under general direction.
Care of the Older Person
The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to meet the full range of needs of older people in a variety of care settings.
Nutrition
The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence in the nutritional composition of food and the effects of food and nutrition on an individual’s health and personal wellbeing
Social Studies
This programme module aims to introduce learners to the area of sociology and social studies and to develop their understanding and awareness of social issues in their own lives and society in general.
Care Provision and Practice
The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to understand the roles and responsibilities of care workers, the needs of groups requiring care and the interpersonal qualities needed to work in a range of care environments.
Human Growth and Development
The award is designed for learners who intend to work in a variety of community/social care settings where frequent demand is made on the individual to relate to people at various levels of personal development The module aims to introduce the learner to human growth and development from infancy to old age in order that the learner will be equipped to relate to people at a level appropriate to their needs.
Word Processing
The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to use a word processing application to produce documents in a variety of contexts to a mailable or publishable standard whilst working autonomously and under general direction.
Occupational First Aid
The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to provide and co-ordinate first aid in the workplace in compliance with the requirements of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 and the associated Guide to these Regulations.

QQI Level 5 certificate in Community Health Services
Entry Requirements
Leaving Certificate or Leaving Certificate Applied or QQI Level 4. For mature candidates (21+), experience will be considered in lieu of academic qualifications.
Note: This course requires participants to be Garda vetted. Continued participation on the course and work placement is dependent on the successful completion of this process
