Course details
This course, which is timetabled over four mornings per week is designed for those who would like to work in the area of health and social care, either with individual clients or clients in residential care and/or in the community, for example, resource centres, learning disability and family support. Learners will acquire knowledge of healthcare theories and best practice and will also acquire practical experience on work placement and through skills demonstrations. For those graduates wishing to progress to further studies, this course has many links with Universities and IT’s.

This broad range of modules allows learners the opportunity to explore diverse areas which may lead to many employment experiences and/or further studies in all areas of social care.
Learners who successfully complete this course may progress on to the Advanced Certificate in Health Services Supervisory Management QQI (FETAC) Level 6 Award (6M4978) at DFEi.

This programme requires learners to undertake work experience that will bring them into contact with children or vulnerable adults and in which they assume positions of trust. As a result Garda Vetting is a requirement for entry onto this course. Learners may apply for Garda Vetting at Induction in September.
