    Introduction

    This course is aimed at those who have completed a Level 5 Award in Community and Health Services. Completion of the Level 6 Award will further enhance the portfolio of skills of those wishing to gain entry to the community, emergency and health services area.

    This course also offers the opportunity to supplement the FETAC Level 6 Award with optional training at instructor level in core areas, thus improving employment and progression opportunities both at home and abroad.

    Internationally Recognised Optional Training Courses*

    • CFR-I (Cardiac First Responder Instructor)
    • EFR-I (Emergency First Response Instructor) (EMT is a pre-requisite)
    • BTEC (Basic Tactical Emergency Care) and BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training)
    • STCW-95 (Standards of Training and Certification of Watchkeeping)
    • PEPP (Pediatric Education for Pre-hospital Practitioners) (EMT is a pre-requisite)

    These optional training courses will incur additional costs and take place during term breaks. They are offered subject to minimum numbers.

    Assessment and Certification

    • Assessment is based on a combination of work submitted during the year and exams.
    • This course is certified by QQI
    • Learners must pass all 8 subjects to be awarded a QQI level 6 Advanced Certificate in Health Services Supervisory Management Skills (6M4978).
    • Optional training courses are certified by the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) and delivered by PHECC recognised institutes and tutors.

    Entry Requirements

    • Applicants should have a QQI Level 5 in Community & Health Services or equivalent.

    Others including Mature Students

    • Applicants without the entry requirements are welcome and will be assessed individually.
