Course details

The aim of this module is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skills and competence to communicate verbally and non-verbally in standard everyday tasks.

Successful completion of this component awards enables learners to transfer to programmes leading to other certificates where this module is a mandatory or elective requirement.

Programme Aim:

At the end of the course the learner will be able to;

• Analyse a range of current issues in communication and information technology.
• Summarise the elements of legislation that must be observed such as health, safety and welfare at work and communications-related legislation.
• Use appropriate non-verbal and visual communication in personal and work related settings, to include one-to one, group/team, and in formal and informal interaction.
• Demonstrate verbal and listening skills appropriate to working under general direction.
• To use reading techniques appropriate to a task, to include skimming, obtaining an overview, identifying key points, critical evaluation and in depth analysis

Entry Requirement

Minimum of Level 4 certificate standard of education. Strong interest in the provision of quality care in a healthcare setting. Competency in written and spoken English.
