    Dementia is common among the elderly particularly with the aging population in Singapore. With the loss of memory, talking to these dementia patients could be very exhausting, especially for someone who is taking care of the dementia patient.

    The course aims to equip caregivers with the knowledge and skills in understanding of how to communicate with dementia patients.

    Foreign domestic helpers of the dependent elderly will benefit from the course.

    What will I learn?

    After the course, learners will be able to:

    • communicate effectively with dementia patients
    • show understanding of dementia patients' conditions at various stages of dementia and how they adversely affect the intellectual capacity, particularly their communication skills
    • demonstrate understanding of the patients' needs and capabilities
    • target to meet the elderly's needs through effective communications

    How will I be assessed?

    Student attendance at all lesson sessions will be monitored and should be maintained to a minimum level of 75% attendance.

    Foreign domestic helpers of seniors or persons with disabilities who are Singaporeans or Permanent Residents
