If you have not undertaken fromal study for sometime and are concerned regarding your academic study and writing skills, you are strongly advised to undertake the access module prior (Academic Writing and Learning Skills Module - available through the Centre for Lifelong Learning) to attempting any stand alone module
Applicants will normally:
- A. Be a registered nurse on the register maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
OR
- B. Be registered on the appropriate professional register.
AND
- C. Be currently employed in health care either in: clinical practice/management/ research /education. Some modules may only be undertaken while working in a specific related area. This is specified in module descriptions.
AND HAVE GAINED:
- A primary degree (min. 2.2) (health sciences related) or evidence of equivalent academic credits. Students who do not have the aforementioned will be required to provide evidence of their ability to study at post-graduate level.
- D. Students whose first language is not English will require a degree of fluency in the English language.
- This module may also be relevant to non-clinical health services managers across acute and primary care areas.
- Credits from stand alone modules can be accrued towards the award of Post graduate Diploma in Health Sciences (Nursing Studies/Professional Studies)
- Many of our stand-alone modules are delivered through blended learning/e-learning allowing you the option of studying at your own pace in your own home
Programme Overview
The aim of this module is to equip students with both the knowledge and skills to both conduct a clinical audit or engage proactively with others in clinical audit in their workplace. Students will be taught how to analyse variances' within the context of quality improvement and clinical governance.
