    Introduction

    Computer networks are a vital resource for organisations in the public and private sectors, many of which are now having to confront the shortage of skilled personnel needed to design, build and maintain their networks. BFEI, as a Cisco Local Academy, seeks to address this need by offering training opportunities leading to valuable Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) qualifications which is the industry standard in networking.

    Course Structure

    The aim of the programme is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to design, build and maintain small to medium sized networks. Those who successfully complete the programme are trained to a level where they can gain the CCNA qualification.

    Knowledge and skills are gained by learners in a dynamic setting through instructor-led tuition, practical skills sessions, project work and on-line learning.

    Entry Requirements

    Prior Qualifications

    Applicants should have successfully completed the core elements of the Computer and Network Maintenance course in Blackrock Further Education Institute or an equivalent course OR applicants should have relevant experience in the computing industry.

    Mature Students (including VTOS and BTEA)

    Applicants without these entry requirements will be considered on the basis of age, experience and overall demonstrable ability.

    Other Applicants

    The course is also suitable for those with a Certificate, Diploma, Degree in a computing area who wish to enhance their employability.

    It is also suitable for those with experience in the computing industry who wish to update and advance their skills and acquire certified qualifications.

    Other Requirements

    Applicants will have a personal advisory meeting to offer guidance and to ensure course suitability. Applicants will also be advised on course costs and registration details.
