Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) validates the ability to plan, implement, verify and troubleshoot local and wide-area enterprise networks and work collaboratively with specialists on advanced security, voice, wireless and video solutions.
The Professional level in the Cisco Certification program recognizes a more advanced networking knowledge base and skills set. Each certification verifies a set of different technology skills to meet the needs of varying job roles. The curriculum consists of three experience-oriented courses that employ industry-relevant instructional approaches to prepare learners for professional-level jobs:
- CCNP ROUTE: Implementing IP Routing
- CCNP SWITCH: Implementing IP Switching
- CCNP TSHOOT: Maintaining and Troubleshooting IP Networks
The course if offered through classroom teaching and through a blended learning (BDL) environment.
Those who achieve CCNP have demonstrated the skills required in enterprise roles such as network technician, support engineer, systems engineer or network engineer.
The Requirements for entry are:
- CCNA Computer Network Associate
The CISCO CCNP ROUTE, SWITCH and TSHOOT courses are designed for network engineers with at least one year of professional work experience, who are ready to advance their skills and work independently on complex network solutions.
- CCNP ROUTE and CCNP SWITCH have no course pre-requisites and can be taken in any order
- CCNP ROUTE and CCNP SWITCH are both prerequisites for CCNP TSHOOT
- Learners can acquire the CCNA level routing and switching skills needed for success in this course by completing CCNA Discovery or CCNA Exploration
- Learners must have competence in spoken and written English.
The ROUTE course will enable learners: to learn to plan, configure and verify the implementation of secure enterprise LAN and WAN routing solutions using a range of routing protocols. Course also covers configuration of solutions to support branch offices and mobile workers.
SWITCH learning will include: learn to plan, configure and verify the implementation of complex enterprise switching solutions using Cisco's Campus Enterprise Architecture. The course also covers secure integration of VLANs, WLANs, voice and video traffic into campus networks.
TSHOOT learning will include: learners will learn to (1) plan and perform regular maintenance on complex enterprise routed and switched networks and (2) use technology-based practices and a systematic ITIL-compliant approach to perform network troubleshooting. Extensive labs provide for hands-on learning and reinforce troubleshooting skills..
