Course details
Everyone wants a career they feel passionate about yet so many of us view our jobs with a sense of boredom, disappointment and frustration.
So many of us get it wrong and end up choosing a career blatantly unsuited to our unique skills and abilities. Deciding what we will do for a living is one of the most important decisions any of us makes in life and it needs to be supported by careful consultation.
In order to help you find the right career direction, based on your unique talents and experience, we at Open College use a variety of communication, coaching and psychometric tools. This is your chance to find the right career for you.
- You have never assessed your own skills and aptitudes
- You are frustrated or feel you’re in the wrong career
- You have been made redundant or are considering redundancy
- You’re a student or graduate choosing a career path
- You simply want to build fresh confidence in your ability to achieve career success.
During this workshop we will cover:
Psychometric Assessment
Before starting the course you will take our online psychometric assessment with interest profiling and personality exercises. What this does is help us determine which career area you are personally suited to and generate a series of specific career options.
On the course you will receive personalised feedback from our British Psychological Society accredited assessor on your psychometric results and how they relate to suitable careers. We then use this knowledge to help set your career direction.
Building a personal profile
Through the use of coaching tools your values, strengths and skills will be assessed to build self- awareness and confidence in your own abilities.
A number of exercises based on John Holland’s theory of six personality and career types: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional, will help you to further build a personal profile of your career type suitability.
You will be trained in the research skills required to find out more about the career paths you are suited to.
Confidence and Stress Management
Choosing the right career is directly linked to self-confidence and candidates will be instructed in a number of practical confidence-building and stress management techniques they can use for support on their career journey.
