The Child Psychology Level 6 (Minor Award) aims to provide the learner with an understanding of the factors that influence and impact on a child’s psychological development. It will provide an understanding of theories of developmental change and continuity in infancy, childhood and adolescence. Learners will be provided with a comprehensive introduction to theories and theorists of child development psychology and will develop the skills and knowledge required to discuss and evaluate these theories.

Learners who are interested in this Child Psychology Level 6 Minor Award will be provided with a comprehensive introduction to theories and theorists of child development psychology and will develop the skills and knowledge required to embark on a career in this field.
The entry requirements are as follows:
- Interest in Child Development theory and practices
- Leaving Certificate standard or appropriate FETAC/QQI Qualification or equivalent.
- Mature Applicants with relevant life and work experience
- English Language Proficiency Test where deemed appropriate or an IELTS score of 5.0
This Child Psychology Level 6 Minor Award will provide the learner with an understanding of theories of developmental change and continuity in infancy, childhood & adolescence. It will also enable learners to develop an understanding of the key concepts and terminology related to Child Psychology. Learners will develop observation techniques to identify and collect quality primary scientific data in an education or child care setting, identify child developmental problems & respond to them with recommendations which are theoretically supported.

Assessment
A combination of module appropriate assessment procedures will facilitate the assessment of learning outcomes of this early Child Psychology course.
