    Course details

    The aim of the module is to develop in students the competencies; knowledge and skills required for supporting people who present with behaviours that challenge. The module will include the following content:

    • Introduction to challenging behaviour
    • Introduction to the knowledge and skills required to identify the reasons for challenging behaviours.
    • Development of skills and knowledge required to design and implement proactive strategies for managing these behaviours.

    This module is prepared in response to the developing trends in challenging behaviour practice nationally and internationally.

    Blended Learning (elearning and College attendance)

    Course work & participation in on-line discussions.
    Examples of coursework include essays; literature reviews; development of posters; portfolios; group presentations.

    Entry Requirements:

    Applicants will normally:

    • A. Be a registered nurse on the register maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.

    OR

    • B.Be registered on the appropriate professional register.

    AND

    • C. Be currently employed in health care either in: clinical practice/management/ research /education. Some modules may only be undertaken while working in a specific related area. This is specified in module descriptions.
