Course details

This course is designed to give you help desk level skills in maintaining computers and computer networks.

You will gain practical skills and experience in computer maintenance, operating systems, network configuration and maintenance, interface design and internet working technologies.

You will learn how to develop complex testing and evaluation features and diagnose faults in advanced systems.

In stage two of the course you will commencing learning virtualisation and cloud technologies, undertake a workplace project and gain valuable workready skills in the Student Support Help Desk / IT Shop.

This course will also teach you how to communicate with business clients, manage simple projects and create technical documents. Industry standard vendor certification skills and knowledge needed to working towards achieving the Microsoft MCP and the Cisco CCNA is included in this course.

Students studying the Certificate IV in Computer Systems Technology at Box Hill Institute also have the opportunity to enrol and achieve a dual qualification, the Certificate IV in Information Technology. This second qualification can be studied simultaneously.

What further study options will I have?

You may wish to progress into the Diploma of Information Technology Networking; Diploma of Information Technology Systems Administration or the Advanced Diploma of Computer Systems Technology at Box Hill Institute or five other related Diploma of Information Technology courses. You may wish to continue your studies in networking by completing the Advanced Diploma of Information Technology (Network Security) and continue studying at Box Hill gaining credits into the Bachelor of Computer Systems (Networking). Students can also continue their studies in other related bachelor degrees at academic institutions throughout Australia.
