Course details

The module is designed to provide learners with an understanding of fundamental spreadsheet concepts, practical experience in spreadsheet design and implementation and an introduction to the use of macros and additional functions. The course is assessed by means of an exam and a project.

Course Content

The specific learning outcomes are grouped into 3 units:

  • Unit 1: Basic Spreadsheet Concepts: Working With Workbooks: Create, Save, Close and Open Workbooks
  • Unit 2: Spreadsheet Design and Implementation: Editing a Workbooks, Entering Data, Selecting, Deleting and Moving Data, Insert/Delete Columns and Rows, Working with Formulas and Functions, Formatting a Workbooks, Font, Font Size, Font Colour, Font Styles, Number Styles
  • Unit 3: Macros and Charts

Assessments

  • Each module will be assessed by a combination of examination and collection of work.

Entry Requirement

  • National Vocational Certificate Level 4, Leaving Certificate, or equivalent qualifications and/or life or work experience.
