To provide a solid introduction to the most widely used modern office applications. This course gives a foundation of skills which will ensure that participants are able to use the software as quickly, efficiently and effectively as possible.

Course Outline

Microsoft Word

  • Creating, saving, editing and formatting documents.
  • Page formatting: spelling and grammar, page margins, page orientation,
  • Tables: create a table, enter data in a table, modify the table structure and format a table.
  • Insert/format pictures and clipart, page borders and colour.

Microsoft Excel

  • Creating, saving, editing and formatting excel workbooks and worksheets.
  • Entering data, selecting, deleting and moving data, insert/delete calculations:
  • Working with formulas and functions.
  • Charts: create and modify a chart, use the chart tools.

Microsoft Access

  • Create and managing databases and tables.
  • Querying a database: query design features, query criteria.
  • Create forms and reports.

Microsoft PowerPoint

  • Creating a presentation, editing and formatting content.
  • Formatting a presentation: themes, animation, transitions,
  • Organise a slide show: rearrange slides and setup a slide show.
  • Charts: create and modify a chart, use the chart tools.

File Management

  • Concepts of files and folders and organising your computers.
  • Copy, Move, Rename, Delete, Restore Files.
  • Moving/Copying files to a CD or Flash Drive.

Internet and Email

  • Searching the web, viewing web sites, buy & sell online, online banking
  • Set up a gmail account, send and receive e-mail and attachments.
  • Using contacts feature.
