Course details
OSAC’s Certificate in English Language Proficiency (CELP) course aims to build up our student’s level of competency in the English Language so that they can live and study in an English Speaking Environment. The Intermediate course brings students to Level B2 of the Common European Framework (IELTS 5.5 – 6.0 equivalent / TOEFL IBT 65-78). Based on up-to-date topics of international interest, the course is delivered using the New Cutting Edge series, supplemented by PowerPoint presentations, use of the internet and other relevant activities. A graded-reading program is also incorporated into the course to reinforce language learning.
Entry Requirement
Students are expected to have achieved the equivalent of 4.5-5.0 IELTS at the time of entry to this programme – OR passed the English subject for the 11th year of formal education. Students will be required to take a Placement Test before enrolment.
Course Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
- understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation.
- interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party.
- produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

Graduation Criteria
All CELP Course Completion and Award Criteria
- Passed overall assessments.
- 90% class attendance for entire course (international students)
- 75% class attendance for entire course (all other students not on ICA's student pass)
Students who fulfill the above criteria will be awarded the “Certificate of English Language Proficiency-Intermediate” by OSAC International College.
